Portable Printer – How Can I Best Use It?
When away from the office, there is many times a need to have a hard copy of a presentation, billing, or even a picture made. When the need arises, the solution is now much easier than ever before. Ranging from less than one pound to much sturdier five pounds, portable printers are available in many sizes, prices, and capabilities.
If your need is only for black and white copies, there are existing printers which can fit in the palm of your hand. Most of them print on standard 8.5×11 inch paper, but there are some that print on 3×4 inch paper. This could be useful on a job site while taking notes or giving an estimate. There are tiny portables that also can print color. While the cost may be a little more than those that weigh only a few additional pounds, the advantage of having a smaller printer to fit into your carry-on bag, might outweigh the cost to some. Most of these smaller sized portables run off of a battery, so there is not even a need to have an electric source close by.
While larger, by a few pounds, than these tiny portables, there are many other color-printing options available. For the person who changes or writes their presentation while on the road, the availability to back up your presentation or print a handout for a meeting is priceless. Photos of properties or products, boarding passes, maps, or emailed material from your office, all of these are great uses for a portable printer. This also provides the capability of not needing to carry a lot of printed material in your briefcase. A good portable printer will allow you to print your presentation from your hotel room right before it is needed and thus save from any of the papers getting wrinkled or dog-eared. Needing to write a contract on the spot? Now there is the potential to print up as many copies as needed right there.
